NEW YORK – Despite the brisk weather, “Lakad Tulong” the fundraising walk to raise funds and awareness about the plight of our kababayans following the onslaught of two typhoons Ondoy (Ketsana) and Pepeng (Parma), was a resounding success with more than 400 “walkers” braving below normal temperatures for early fall.

Held on Sunday, 11 October 2009, in Jersey City, New Jersey, the walk raised $12,919.00 just from participants of the walk, bringing the amount raised so far by Project Handang Tumulong to $43,200.00 as of 14 October 2009.

Lakad Tulong was organized by the Filipino American Community of Northeast USA and the Philippine Consulate General with the support of the United States Census 2010, GMA Pinoy TV, Western Union and Michael Carr of the Carr Wealth Management Group. END
